Our Review Of The Embassy Suites By Hilton in Los Angeles, California

Are you travelling soon to LAX and need a really great place to stay near the hotel? We recently had the experience of spending an overnight stay at the Embassy Suites By Hilton in Los Angeles, California. Here is our review of our stay in 2023:

THE LOCATION OF THE EMBASSY SUITES

Located at 9801 Airport Blvd, Los Angeles, California, it was super convenient for us to disembark our flight from Japan in Terminal B in Los Angeles, to find the courtesy shuttle bus, and to get checked in to our pre-paid room for the night in Los Angeles.

We arrived in Los Angeles at approximately 1pm, from our super long flight from Tokyo, and needed a place to stay near the LAX airport, as we were continuing our trip to Toronto the next morning. We had spent the past 2 days travelling, experienced a huge time zone change, and were VERY tired when we arrived in LA.

THE SHUTTLE SERVICE FOR THE EMBASSY SUITES

We normally experience extremely friendly shuttle drivers, who pick us up from the LAX airport, and bring us to the hotel. The shuttles are roomy, clean, and quite a fast ride. We only had to wait for about 15 minutes to be picked up from the terminal. We definitely appreciate the service!

THE CHECK IN AT THE EMBASSY SUITES

We had pre-paid using Expedia because we have some points that we have accumulated to help us reduce the cost of our stays, and we also usually get an added bonus drink or something with our stay.

The check in was super fast, friendly and efficient. The host was very knowledgeable about the hotel, and he was also very welcoming.

He told us all about the included breakfast (more on that coming!), the use of the wi-fi, the hotel amenities, the onsite and local restaurants, and most importantly, our Expedia bonus, which in this case was that we each were to receive a free beverage of our choice!

We took our beverage coupons, keys and luggage and proceeded to the elevator to go to our room!

THE ROOM AT THE EMBASSY SUITES

Our room at the Embassy Suites was quite a lot larger than what we expected it would be!

We stayed in a 2 room unit with a king sized bed, and a full living room. The bathroom was quite large, and everything was very clean and spacious. The layout was comfortable, and we were very happy with everything.

We unpacked a few things then decided upon going out to get pizza from ZPizza, which was literally around the corner! ZPizza is a highly recommended pizza place that we found on Google. They even pride themselves on offering vegan pizza!

THE AREA SURROUNDING THE EMBASSY SUITES

The area was very safe, so we decided to walk to the pizza place, and ordered our custom made vegan pizza in person! It was fun to pick out literally everything we wanted on the pizza!

Kirk stayed and waited for the pizza to be made, while I walked back to the hotel, and went to the restaurant bar to order both of us our FREE alcoholic drink! Kirk got a beer, and I got myself a red wine. (If you look closely at the pictures of the room, you will see our drinks on the table!)

We both met back upstairs in the living room of our apartment sized room, and watched TV on a big screen while eating like civilized people at the dining room table!

THE QUALITY OF THE EMBASSY SUITES

Needless to say, we both went to bed very early. I actually think that it was only 5pm when I was out for the rest of the night! Fast asleep!

The room was very quiet. The bed was super comfortable, and we both got a really good sleep there.

We had noted the night before that we could only get cold water from the faucet that barely had any pressure, but honestly we were both way too tired to make a call for someone to fix it, or to even, perhaps, change rooms.

The next morning, we both ended up sleeping in, and took ICE COLD showers. Unfortunately, it was not the shower we were dreaming of in this hotel. It was definitely a downfall, but the cold water woke us up!

THE BREAKFAST AT THE EMBASSY SUITES

There was an attendant who worked very hard at stocking the food, and cleaning the tables, ensuring that there was enough food and room for everyone at all times! She was also very polite, helpful and seemed very happy.

For us, as VEGAN eaters, we did find that we had enough to eat. We each had a bowl of hot oatmeal, we each also had a plate of hot potatoes, and lots of fruit. It was an overall good breakfast, and it was enough to fill us up.

THE CHECKOUT AT THE EMBASSY SUITES

Again, the staff were all very pleasant.

As we were checking out, the shuttle bus had just arrived, and we had less than a minute to check out and board the shuttle... So, as I was in the midst of telling the host about the lack of hot water, and the poor water pressure in the room, I was given the hotel manager's card, so that I could call them myself when I arrived back to Canada.

THE AFTERMATH OF STAYING AT THE EMBASSY SUITES

Remember how I had told you that our trip was pre-paid on Expedia? Well, it seems that Los Angeles has a new hotel fee that they charge ON TOP of the cost now. It is a new, and certainly an unexpected additional cost that we had. Expedia did not charge us on the original statement, so we didn't know about the extra fees until we opened our credit card statement! I guess we didn't read the small print! (Hint for next time I book a hotel in Los Angeles!!)

In summary, we found the hotel to be very good overall. It really makes a difference when everyone is so pleasant, and that the hotel actually seems to care about its guests!

We would definitely stay at the Embassy Suites by Hilton in Los Angeles again.
